|Study progress on rotary friction welding of aluminum/steel dissimilar materials

|Rotary friction welding of aluminum/steel has outstanding advantages of high welding quality and welding efficient, which is especially suitable for joining rotary structures. However, the unique rotary motion of rotary friction welding would result in an inhomogeneous distribution of microstructure and joint properties along the radius direction, which has become one of bottlenecks restricting the application in key field. The research status of rotary friction welding of aluminum/steel dissimilar materials was reviewed in this paper, including welding technology, microstructure and mechanical properties. The future research direction on rotary friction welding of aluminum/steel was further discussed.
